Optimuse secures € 4 million in seed financing
The Viennese deep-tech start-up Optimuse has closed a seed financing round of 4 million euros. The round was led by seed + speed Ventures and Blum Ventures. The existing investors Matterwave Ventures and aws Gründungsfonds also participated again. Optimuse intends to use the fresh capital to drive forward its internationalization and expand sales of its platform for planning, renovating and operating buildings.
AI platform for building owners and planners
Optimuse's solution is aimed at building owners, developers and planners. The platform creates a realistic digital building model from existing construction plans and documents. Based on this, thousands of variants are simulated and the most economical and climate-friendly solution is proposed.
Buildings are becoming increasingly complex in technical and regulatory terms. Our AI solution provides clarity: it compares variants in the shortest possible time and recommends the most sustainable and economical solution.
Dominik Pezzei, co-founder and Managing Director of Optimuse
The aim is to make early design decisions based on data, as these shape the cost and emissions balance of a building for decades to come. According to the start-up, this can speed up preliminary planning by up to 70 %, reduce construction costs by around 10 % and cut emissions by an additional 20 %.
For new builds and renovations
Optimuse sees its platform being used both in new builds and in the transformation of existing buildings.
- Refurbishment: a simulation-supported digital model is created from existing documents. Modernization paths (such as switching from gas to heat pumps) are quantified in terms of investment and operating costs, carbon footprint and comfort. This creates prioritized action plans with technical traceability.
- New build: Early drafts can be analyzed with simulation support. Optimuse identifies variants with lower energy requirements and precisely dimensions the system technology. This should help to avoid over- or undersizing and reduce costs from day one.
With the combination of AI, building physics and simulation, the team creates real benefits for building owners, planners and operators.
André Hammerer, Managing Director at Blum Ventures
For the investors, the focus is primarily on practical relevance. Alexander Kölpin, Managing Director at seed + speed Ventures, explains:"The team uses digital simulations in the early planning phase to show which measures are technically feasible and economically viable at the same time. In a market with an enormous need for refurbishment and strict efficiency requirements, this is real added value."
Optimuse
Optimuse was founded in Vienna in 2021 by Dominik Pezzei, Fabian Pitscheider and Felix Maximilian Hofer. The team of around 20 people brings together expertise from the fields of construction, building physics, building technology and artificial intelligence. Their work is based on scientifically sound simulations and analyses that enable the precise design of building systems.
