OroraTech raises 37 million euros

Munich-based SpaceTech company uses AI and satellites for global forest fire monitoring. Already 10 satellites in orbit.
Landshut/Munich, May 14, 2025 - Munich-based space startup OroraTech has successfully expanded its Series B financing round to a total of 37 million euros(we reported on the original Series B). Investors include ScaleUp-Fonds Bayern from Bayern Kapital, BNP Paribas Solar Impulse Venture Fund as lead investor as well as Rabo Ventures, Edaphon and the European Circular Bioeconomy Fund (ECBF).
Satellites against forest fires: technology from space for the planet
OroraTech specializes in satellite-based thermal imaging technology for monitoring and risk assessment of forest fires. In view of increasing forest, savannah and grassland fires worldwide, early detection is crucial. The company's solution: compact nanosatellites with AI-based thermal imaging cameras that detect thermal changes on the Earth's surface, identifying potential fire hotspots before they escalate.
Our goal is to further drive our growth and position as a leading provider of thermal data-based wildfire detection and risk assessment solutions for various industries and governments worldwide.
Dr. Martin Langer, CEO and CTO of OroraTech
Ten satellites already in orbit
OroraTech currently has ten operational satellites in orbit. The company uses them to continuously supply thermal data and create dynamic digital twins of the Earth. This allows forest fire events to be simulated and predicted globally, in real time and with high precision. More than 347 million hectares of forest worldwide are already protected in this way.
The combination of scalable space infrastructure and intelligent data analysis addresses pressing global challenges - far beyond fighting forest fires.
Monika Steger, Managing Director Bayern Kapital
The fresh funds will help OroraTech to expand its market position globally. In addition to early fire detection, the company plans to use its technology in other areas such as gas flaring monitoring, heat island analysis in cities and precise agricultural applications. CEO Dr. Martin Langer sees great potential for industry and authorities worldwide.
