Oska Health raises 11 million euros in seed capital
Healthtech Oska Health has closed a seed financing round of 11 million euros. The round is led by Capricorn Partners and SwissHealth Ventures. Other investors include Revent, Calm Storm, BMH, LBBW Venture Capital, GoHub Ventures and Aurum Impact.
The capital will be used to scale a care model that digitally enhances the care of multimorbid patients and has already been in use with health insurance companies for several years.
Closing the care gap between medical appointments
Oska Health addresses a structural problem in modern healthcare systems. Chronic illnesses do not develop and worsen in the treatment room, but in the everyday lives of those affected.
Chronic illnesses cannot be managed in individual doctor's appointments - they are decided in everyday life
Niklas Best, CEO and Co-Founder Osaka Health
The company combines personal care from trained health advisors with AI-supported analysis and digital therapy support. Patients are continuously supported via app, chat or video in order to implement medical recommendations (e.g. on diet, exercise or medication) in the long term.
Cooperation with health insurance companies as a basis for scaling
The service is already being used by more than 20 health insurance companies in Germany, including KKH Kaufmännische Krankenkasse. Use is free of charge for insured persons, while doctors remain therapeutically responsible. Oska Health primarily provides continuous monitoring and behavioral support between treatment appointments, without additional software requirements for practices.
This model is designed to both improve health outcomes and reduce avoidable hospitalizations.
Growing pressure from chronic diseases
Chronic diseases are among the biggest cost drivers in the healthcare sector. Patients with long-term, often multiple concurrent diagnoses such as diabetes, high blood pressure or chronic kidney disease account for a significant proportion of healthcare expenditure.
At the same time, healthcare data shows that many of those affected find it difficult to consistently implement treatment recommendations. The start-up aims to bring about a change by providing continuous behavioral support instead of one-off interventions.
Investors see a scalable model for European healthcare systems
The investors involved particularly value the combination of personal support and technological scalability as a decisive factor. The model can be transferred to other markets and could help to organize care more efficiently.
With the fresh capital, Oska Health:
- expand its technological infrastructure and AI functionalities
- expanding the team in medicine, product development and care
- scaling cooperation with insurance companies and medical networks
- prepare for possible international expansion in the future
The company was founded in 2022 and is currently active on the German market as a certified medical device.
