Oxyle secures 16 million US dollars

Swiss startup develops new technology for the complete destruction of "eternal chemicals"
Zurich, January 30, 2025 - Swiss startup Oxyle has closed a USD 16 million financing round. The funds will be used to further scale the company's proprietary technology for the destruction of per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substances (PFAS). The seed funding round was led by 360 Capital, with participation from Axeleo Capital and existing investors Founderful and SOSV.
Innovative solution for the elimination of PFAS
PFAS, also known as "forever chemicals", are present in many everyday products and pose a growing challenge to the environment. While conventional processes only filter PFAS out of the water and transfer them to other waste streams, Oxyle goes one step further: the technology completely destroys the molecules and achieves elimination rates of over 99%. The process also consumes 15 times less energy than alternative methods.
The technology is based on a three-stage process that combines foam fractionation, catalytic destruction and machine learning. This enables real-time monitoring and optimization of water purification.
Expansion and future plans
Oxyle plans to use the new funding to treat 100 million liters of contaminated water over the next five years. The company is already working with various industry partners and has launched pilot projects in areas such as groundwater treatment, chemical production and municipal water purification.
This funding takes us a big step further in our mission to rid water of toxic pollutants
Dr. Fajer Mushtaq, CEO and co-founder of Oxyle
The company was founded at ETH Zurich and has established itself as a pioneer in the field of water treatment in recent years. Oxyle currently employs 26 people and has already completed over 20 customer projects.
Increasing demand for PFAS removal solutions
The timing for Oxyle's expansion is favorable: stricter environmental regulations in Europe and the USA as well as increasing legal consequences for PFAS contamination are driving the demand for effective solutions. According to studies, the remediation of PFAS-contaminated soil and water in Europe could cost up to 100 billion euros annually.
Oxyle sets a new standard in water treatment. This technology is a real game changer because it not only removes PFAS, but destroys them completely.
Thomas Nivard, Partner at 360 Capital
With the current financing, Oxyle intends to further develop its technology, open up new markets and expand its industrial application. The company is also planning to expand its team and is actively looking for new talent.
