Perfood receives millions from Bonventure

The start-up wants to prevent migraines and blood sugar disorders with personalized nutrition programs. Perfood is now receiving money for this from an impact investor.
Perfood has received a single-digit million sum from Munich-based investor Bonventure. The health start-up intends to use the capital to launch its digital migraine prophylaxis and drive forward clinical studies on type 2 diabetes and other diseases.
Dominik Burziwoda, Torsten Schröder, Christoph Twesten and Christian Sina founded Perfood at the University of Lübeck in 2017. The start-up specializes in nutrition programmes, digital therapies and health research. The "Million Friends" app, a personalized nutrition program that helps with weight loss, stabilizes blood sugar levels in the long term and thus prevents illness, is already on the market.
"If everyone were to eat a personalized diet and thus keep their blood sugar levels low and stable, they would give their body a sustainable tool to combat many diseases," says Perfood co-founder and CEO Dominik Burziwoda. "In simple but targeted dietary adjustments, we have found a completely new active ingredient that gets to the root of many metabolic problems."
Digital migraine prophylaxis has also already shown good results in an application trial: Participants were able to reduce the frequency of their migraine attacks by an average of 60 percent. The Perfood AI helps them to do this: based on blood glucose measurements with a sensor and diary entries on physical activity, sleep and symptoms of illness, it creates a personalized nutrition plan.
