Producto acquires Codecheck app

The app is designed to help users consume more sustainably and consciously.

Producto, the company behind the comparison portal Testberichte.de, has acquired the Codecheck app. The app for sustainable consumption will be continued in the future by the newly founded subsidiary Producto Check. Tobias Weishaupt, Head of Business Development at Testberichte.de, will become Managing Director of the company. The existing Codecheck employees will be able to continue working in the new company, and some Testberichte.de employees will also transfer to the new subsidiary.

"We have 20 years of experience in evaluating and comparing products, so Codecheck is an excellent fit for us," says Producto CEO Ina Zitzmann. "With this, we are meaningfully expanding our offering for conscious product selection and, in addition to quality-conscious consumers, are now increasingly targeting customers who are interested in healthy and sustainable products." The Codecheck app was developed by a Zurich-based company of the same name. By using the search function or scanning the barcode, users can find out which ingredients are contained in a product and how sustainable they are.

Producto Check plans to release an update for the app soon. In the future, there should be more up-to-date content there again. Weishaupt also plans to improve the user experience, for example by offering better alternative suggestions when searching for products. The website is also to be improved.
