Protembis closes Series B financing round

Protembis GmbH successfully closes a €30 million Series B financing round to support recruitment for the PROTEMBO IDE pivotal trial.
Aachen, Germany - Protembis GmbH, a German company specializing in cardiovascular medical devices, announced today that it has successfully closed a €30 million Series B financing round. These funds will support recruitment for the PROTEMBO Investigational Device Exemption (IDE) pivotal trial.
Participation of venture capitalists
The financing round was led by a European consortium of venture capitalists, including Segulah Medical Acceleration from Sweden, XGEN Venture from Italy and the TechVision Fund from Germany. In addition to these main investors, other investors such as Coparion, various large family offices, business angels and a multinational medical technology group also participated in the financing round.
In addition to the successful financing round, Protembis announced the addition of Dr. Keith D. Dawkins to the Board of Directors. Dr. Dawkins has more than 35 years of experience in the cardiovascular field and will bring his expertise to Protembis' clinical strategies.
The ProtEmbo® Cerebral Protection System
The ProtEmbo® Cerebral Protection System from Protembis is an intra-aortic filter system that protects the brain from embolic material during transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). It is inserted through the left radial artery and provides non-thrombogenic shielding of all cerebral vessels.
