PULSETRAIN secures EUR 6.1 million seed

PULSETRAIN secures seed funding to extend EV battery life by up to 80% and make vehicles more powerful and cost-efficient.
Munich, March 19, 2025 - Munich-based startup PULSETRAIN has closed a seed financing round of 6.1 million euros. The round is led by Vsquared Ventures and Planet A, with participation from Climate Club. With the fresh funding, PULSETRAIN plans to further develop its innovative battery technology and build up industrialization and scaling.
"In-battery" solution for more power and range
PULSETRAIN is pursuing a novel, holistic approach for battery systems in electric vehicles. By integrating the battery management system (BMS), inverter and charging electronics into a single "in-battery" solution, the range, performance and safety of EVs are to be significantly improved.
We reduce weight, increase battery life and reduce costs at the same time. This enables manufacturers to produce lighter, more efficient and cost-optimized vehicles, while the technology openness of our product allows them to tailor it to their exact requirements.
Thomas Plaschko, co-founder of PULSETRAIN,
The central element is a multi-level inverter that enables more efficient energy use and is optimized via AI-supported real-time data analysis. This technology could extend the service life of batteries by up to 80% - from an average of 10 to up to 18 years. At the same time, manufacturing costs for vehicle manufacturers should be reduced, increasing competitiveness in e-mobility.

Wide range of applications and a strong founding team
PULSETRAIN is currently focusing on the electrification of two-wheelers and commercial vehicles, but is planning to expand into other areas such as automotive, aviation, agriculture and shipping.
PULSETRAIN offers the disruptive innovation that will enable the Western automotive industry to be competitive again.
Patrick Tucci, Principal at Vsquared Ventures
The startup was founded by Leopold König (CustomCells), Thomas Plaschko (enfas) and Niclas Lehnert (BAVERTIS) - three experts with many years of experience in the battery industry and in scaling technology companies. With over 40 employees and a strong network in the mobility industry, PULSETRAIN is well positioned to contribute to the future of electromobility. Nick de la Forge, General Partner at Planet A adds: "PULSETRAIN's technology makes EVs better, cheaper and more efficient - a key factor in scaling sustainable mobility."
