Quantum Systems plans expansion in the UK with investments of up to 50 million euros

Munich-based defense tech Quantum Systems, a specialist in AI-supported unmanned reconnaissance systems, has announced the expansion of its activities in the UK. As part of the establishment of Quantum Systems Ltd. UK and the complete takeover of Nordic Unmanned UK, up to 50 million euros are to be invested over the next five years.
Supporting the UK defense strategy
The expansion is closely linked to the UK Ministry of Defense's 20-40-40 strategy. This envisages a future force structure in which 20 percent of manned platforms control 40 percent of reusable systems, such as drones, and 40 percent of expendable systems, such as missiles or effectors.
By supporting UK talent, infrastructure and partnerships, and with our mission-proven systems, we aim to contribute to the country's defense priorities.

With a portfolio covering short, medium and long-range reconnaissance UAVs, Quantum Systems is positioning itself as a supplier that can fully meet these requirements.
Investment in infrastructure and partnerships
The plans include the establishment of a service, support, training and logistics center (SSTLC) along the lines of Quantum Systems' activities in Ukraine. In addition, maintenance capacities, test infrastructure and training opportunities are to be created. This should create jobs and strengthen British sovereignty in the field of unmanned systems.
A memorandum of understanding with Skyports is to be signed during the DSEI UK 2025 arms fair. This reaffirms the company's intention to work closely with local partners.
Presentation of the new Reliant drone
Quantum Systems will be presenting the new Reliant long-range drone for the first time at DSEI UK 2025. The system complements the existing portfolio for reconnaissance and surveillance missions (ISR) and is controlled via the in-house MOSAIC UXS software.
Leadership by ex-Marine
Vito Tomasi will take over the management of Quantum Systems Ltd UK. The former Royal Marines officer brings operational experience from Afghanistan and later worked in investment banking (Goldman Sachs) and venture capital (Speedinvest).
Quantum Systems is here to invest permanently in the UK.

Martin Karkour, Chief Revenue Officer of Quantum Systems, emphasizes:"The UK is committed to autonomy, resilience and next generation unmanned systems. With our UK hub, the acquisition of Nordic Unmanned UK and under the leadership of Vito Tomasi, we will deliver these capabilities." At Startbase, we continue to accompany the startup with our reporting, most recently on a Series B over €100 million and as recently as May 2025 on a successful Series C over €160 million. Quantum Systems thus continues to receive an enormous tailwind.
