Now official: SAP acquires Signavio

Takeover complete: the group from Baden-Württemberg is buying the cloud start-up for almost one billion euros.
The German software group SAP has made the takeover of the Berlin-based start-up Signavio official, after rumors about the deal had already been circulating. Among others, the existing investors Summit Partners, Apex and the venture capitalist DTCP, which is backed by Deutsche Telekom, will benefit from the sale.
According to Signavio, the parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price, the Handelsblatt reports a figure of just under one billion euros.
Signavio was founded in 2009 by four students from the Hasso Plattner Institute in Potsdam, which is named after one of the founders of SAP. In 2006, they developed a prototype of their cloud software. It is designed to simplify the planning of business processes in companies and enable up-to-date monitoring, for example to identify and rectify problems in good time.
SAP and Signavio are already working together. SAP uses the so-called Collaboration Hub from Signavio. The start-up describes its own product as a digital meeting point for employees where content can be created and shared.
