The food start-up Sirplus receives millions from ProSiebenSat1 - and a new brand ambassador.

The investment arm SevenAccelerator of the media group ProsiebenSat1 has invested a single-digit million amount in the food start-up Sirplus. The media-for-equity deal is intended to strengthen the media presence of the company, which has been reselling rescued food since 2017. There is also a new brand ambassador for this task: Jimi Blue Ochsenknecht.

According to ProsiebenSat1, Sirplus is currently growing because the market environment of inflation favors the food subscription business model. The social trend towards sustainability and against waste is also playing a role. Sirplus has restructured its business and is now focusing purely on online retail.

According to the start-up, Sirplus' investors include Benjamin Otto, member of the Otto Group's Supervisory Board, and Tim Schumacher, long-time supporter of the eco search engine Ecosia. The company also presented itself on Die Höhle der Löwen, but did not receive any capital there. In 2021, Sirplus won the SevenVenture Pitch Day prize from ProsiebenSat1 and received an advertising budget of over three million euros.
