Frank Breitschwerdt is to support Legaltech primarily with his expertise in the tech industry. Why is he doing this?

Frank Breitschwerdt was a senior manager at comparison portal company Check24 for a long time. Now he has moved on to the Düsseldorf-based legal portal Helpcheck. There, they want to profit above all from his expertise in the tech industry. He had worked at Check24 for eight years, and was responsible for setting up the consumer portal and several insurance comparisons, among other things. Before that, Breitschwerdt worked for nine years at the U.S. consulting firm Bain & Company.

From giant company to start-up - why is Breitschwerdt doing this? Although Helpcheck describes itself as one of the largest legaltech providers in Germany, it still bakes smaller rolls. There are 15 Helpcheck employees registered on LinkedIn, and more than 2700 on Check24. "The legal market is an area where you can make an extremely big difference through digitization and automation," says Breitschwerdt. "Helpcheck, as the market leader in life insurance revocation, is ideally positioned to expand the platform to help consumers get justice in many other areas of law."

Helpcheck CEO Peer Schulz is visibly pleased: "With Frank Breitschwerdt as Managing Director, we will accommodate our growth and strategically expand our nationwide business activities. As a legaltech company, we want to continue to set standards in digital legal advice and processing."

Peer Schulz and Phil Sokowicz founded Helpcheck in 2016 in Düsseldorf. According to its own statements, the company wants to "enable the greatest possible number of people to easily access the law." The company enforces claims in consumer law. According to the statement, IT-based processes are used to check and assert claims. Helpcheck has initiated proceedings in which claims amounting to more than 50 million euros are currently being heard in court.
