The start-up rents out beach chairs on the North Sea and Baltic Sea via the Internet. According to a media report, the Hamburg-based company has now been able to attract investors with its concept.

The startup Strandbutler has closed seed funding of around 1.2 million euros, as Hamburg Start-ups reported. Several business angels reportedly invested in the company in the round. Strandbutler plans to use the new capital to expand its staff and further develop its service.

Christian Henk, Bernhard Sourdeau and Jens Hinrichs founded the Hamburg start-up. The Strandbutler platform allows tourists to book a beach chair on the North Sea and Baltic Sea online. Using a digital lock, visitors can then open the beach chair with their smartphone. This service is intended to enable visitors to plan their vacation more easily. Recently, it has also been possible to order food from local restaurants from the Strandkorb, the company said. According to the company, more than 12,000 bookings could be made through the platform and app during the current 2022 season.

"Beaches still have a lot of catching up to do in terms of digitalization. Together, we still have a lot to do in the coming years," Lucius Bunk, one of the investors at Hamburg Start-up, is quoted as saying.
