Strandbutler receives 1.2 million euros

The start-up rents out beach chairs on the North Sea and Baltic Sea via the internet. According to a media report, the Hamburg-based company has now been able to attract investors with its concept.

The start-up Strandbutler has completed seed financing of around 1.2 million euros, as reported by Hamburg Start-ups reports. Several business angels are said to have invested in the company in this round. Strandbutler intends to use the new capital to expand its workforce and further develop its service.

Christian Henk, Bernhard Sourdeau and Jens Hinrichs founded the Hamburg-based start-up. The Strandbutler platform enables tourists to book a beach chair on the North Sea and Baltic Sea online. Visitors can then use a digital lock to open the beach chair with their smartphone. This service is designed to make it easier for visitors to plan their vacation. Recently, it has also been possible to order food from local restaurants from the beach chair. According to the company, more than 12,000 bookings have been made via the platform and app in the current 2022 season.

"The beaches still have a lot of catching up to do when it comes to digitalization. Together, we have big plans for the coming years," says Lucius Bunk, one of the investors in the Hamburg start-up.
