TERN Group raises 33 million US dollars

The health tech start-up TERN Group has closed a Series A financing round of 24 million US dollars. Together with the 9 million US dollars already raised in previous rounds, this brings the total investment to 33 million US dollars. Around 70 percent of the new capital is to be deployed directly in Germany.
The financing round was led by Notion Capital. Other investors include RTP Global, EQ2 Ventures, LocalGlobe, Leo Capital and existing investors Presight and Tom Stafford (DST Global). The investors thus also include backers who have already invested in companies such as Revolut, FlixBus, Airbnb and DeliveryHero.
AI-supported platform for international professionals
The TERN Group focuses on an AI-based recruiting platform that connects healthcare providers such as hospitals and nursing homes with international specialists. The platform helps to identify suitable candidates, supports recognition processes and manages onboarding. In addition, bureaucratic processes such as visa and entry procedures can be tracked in real time.
In contrast to traditional recruitment agencies, TERN sees itself as an infrastructure provider that places specialists on a large scale and connects the relevant players in the healthcare sector.
Supplemented by "Hospital at Home" programs
In addition to the platform, the TERN Group is also developing technology-supported care concepts such as Hospital at Home. These are designed to support older people who do not require long-term inpatient care directly in their own homes. To this end, the company is building partnerships with care facilities, local authorities and political decision-makers.
Our focus is on building structures, not on short-term staffing.
Dr. Matthias Mauch, Managing Director of TERN Germany
According to the company, 96 percent of the professionals placed remain in the same employment relationship one year after starting work.
The results to date underline this approach:
- global talent pool with more than 650,000 professionals from 13 countries
- around 27,000 international nursing staff who come to Germany every year
- 2,500 participants per year in TERN Group qualification programs
- own language and training programs in countries such as India and Tunisia in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut
In Germany, TERN already works with over 100 organizations, including Helios and Asklepios hospitals. The company also holds the RAL quality mark "Fair Recruitment Nursing Germany" from the Federal Ministry of Health, the MEA license from the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the NHS Provider License in the United Kingdom.
International investors focus on sustainable infrastructure
Investors see TERN as a solution to one of the biggest bottlenecks in the healthcare sector.
The TERN Group shows that recruitment does not have to be slow or fragmented, but can function as a reliable infrastructure.
Itxaso del Palacio, Partner at Notion Capital
RTP Global also emphasizes the relevance of the founding team:"Avinav and Krishna are founders who tackle big challenges with heart. They are reshaping global talent mobility in an ethical, scalable and deeply human way," says Galina Chifina, Managing Partner at RTP Global.
