Is Getir taking over Gorillas?

The Turkish delivery service could take over the majority of the loss-making Berlin-based competitor. However, the deal is far from being finalized.
The food delivery service Gorillas is reportedly on the verge of being taken over. Turkish competitor Getir is reportedly looking to swallow the Berlin-based startup in the near future, as reported by, among others. Bloomberg reports.
Nothing has been decided in the matter yet. Getir is said to want to use both cash and shares for the purchase. For the Turks, the deal would be a path to supremacy in important markets such as Germany and the UK.
Gorillas has recently been repeatedly associated with possible takeovers and mergers. Back in June, it was said that the company was negotiating with Gopuff and Jokr, among others. The main reason for the efforts then, as now, was probably the difficult business situation. According to media reports, Gorillas was losing up to $80 million a month in some cases.
Gorillas did not initially comment on the reports. Getir is also keeping a low profile, and would neither confirm nor deny the talks to Bloomberg.
