Urbify snaps up staff from Asos and Tier

As a result, the company now has a new COO and a new co-managing director for its food business.

Berlin-based delivery startup Urbify has filled two top positions at once. Both personnel come from well-known companies. Riccardo Mannhöfer was previously at fashion mail order company Asos and will be the new COO. Dennis Hartmann becomes co-managing director for the food business; he previously worked at e-scooter company Tier.

Urbify is a next-day delivery service. The company wants to offer customers the option of delivery about as fast as the U.S. giant Amazon, for example, can manage. The service is already available in over 50 cities. The company works with supermarket Rewe and British e-commerce company The Hut Group, for example.

Since Asos is also one of the company's customers, Mannhöfer should already be familiar with Urbify. There, he was the head of delivery solutions in the EU. Hartmann, meanwhile, is familiar with last-mile offerings, having worked at Tier: a company that rents out e-scooters and bicycles. At Urbify, he is now expected to lead the grocery business.

Benedikt Stolze founded Urbify in 2019, then under the name Urbeee. Shortly after, Florian Wienbrügge and Jerolim Dragojevic joined as co-founders. They claim to want to build "the fastest and most sustainable urban transportation network in Europe." Currently, over 5000 deliveries per day are to be handled by more than 400 active drivers.
