Vaayu raises US$11.5 million

The Berlin-based start-up wants to use its software to measure and reduce retailers' CO2 emissions. In addition to capital, it has new backers.
Greentech Vaayu raises 11.5 million US dollars in its seed round, as co-founder Namrata Sandhu announced on Linkedin announced. The round is led by the Scandinavian investor Atomico. CapitalT, Seven Seven Six and Planet Positive also participated in the round. Business angels Cristina Stenbeck and Bryant Chou also invested in the start-up.
As part of the financing round, Terese Hougaard from Atomico and Janneke Niessen from CapitalT will join the start-up's supervisory board. "As a female founder, it's incredibly exciting that our board will be 75 percent women - representation is important," Sandhu writes.
Sandhu founded Vaayu together with Luca Schmid in 2021. The founders have developed software that measures CO2 emissions in the retail sector and aims to help reduce them. According to the start-up, its customers include Klarna and Armed Angels.
