Vaayu raises US$11.5 million

The Berlin-based start-up wants to use its software to measure and reduce retailers' CO2 emissions. In addition to capital, it gets new overseers.

Greentech Vaayu is raising $11.5 million in capital in its seed round, co-founder Namrata Sandhu announced on Linkedin announced. According to the statement, the round is led by Scandinavian investor Atomico. CapitalT, Seven Seven Six and Planet Positive also participated in the round. Business angels Cristina Stenbeck and Bryant Chou also invested in the startup.

As part of the funding round, Terese Hougaard from Atomico and Janneke Niessen from CapitalT join the startup's board of directors. "As a female founder, it's incredibly exciting that our board will be 75 percent women - representation is important," Sandhu writes in response.

Sandhu co-founded Vaayu with Luca Schmid in 2021. The founders have developed software that measures and helps reduce CO2 emissions in the retail sector. According to the startup, its customers include Klarna and Armed Angels.
