VEGDOG raises 9 million euros

Following a 66% increase in sales, VEGDOG secures fresh capital to enter new European markets
Munich, June 3, 2025 - The Munich-based food tech startup VEGDOG, a provider of vegan dog food, has successfully closed a Series A financing round in the amount of 9 million euros. The aim is to further expand to become the European market leader in the vegan dog food segment.
Investors focus on sustainability in the pet food market
The round was led by the European Circular Bioeconomy Fund (ECBF VC) and the existing investor Green Generation Fund (GGF). Further funding came from Select Alternative Investments, renowned business angels such as Dominique Locher and Andrea Skersies and the existing shareholder Startup Family Office (SFO).
Growth, animal welfare and climate protection as core corporate values
VEGDOG was founded in 2015 by Tessa Zaune-Figlar and Valerie Henssen. The company offers a completely vegan, low-allergen and needs-based dog food range, developed with specialist veterinarians. Part of the turnover is regularly invested in animal welfare projects.
Growth plans in Europe
With the fresh capital, VEGDOG plans to further expand its presence in the DACH region and expand into other European markets such as the Netherlands in 2026. Turnover grew by 66% to around EUR 10 million in 2024, and growth rates of up to 80% are planned for the coming years. Kai Naujoks joined the management team as Managing Partner at the beginning of 2025 to lead the international scaling of the operating business. Naujoks was previously involved in the development of the Tonies brand, among other things.
