Nine million dollars for AI documentation. The AI solution saves nursing staff an average of 39 minutes per shift.

Berlin, March 31, 2025 - Berlin-based AI startup voize has closed a nine million dollar seed funding round. The round was led by HV Capital, while Y Combinator, redalpine and HPI Ventures re-invested. The startup is developing AI-supported speech recognition for documentation, which is already being used in 600 care facilities. Now voize is planning to expand into the hospital sector.

AI makes work easier for nursing staff

Around 25-30 percent of nursing staff's working time is spent on documentation. The voice AI from voize makes it possible to record documentation simply by voice input on a smartphone. The software recognizes technical terms, structures the information and automatically creates documentation entries. A pilot study shows that nursing staff save an average of 39 minutes per shift. This leaves more time for direct care.

voize combines technological advancement with real added value for nursing staff and patients. AI could set the standard for digital documentation.

Felix Klühr, HV Capital

In principle, the critical entrepreneur wonders why nursing staff have to document 39 minutes per shift at all, let alone save them. Either way, the time would be better spent on patients and could alleviate some of the problems associated with the shortage of skilled workers in the nursing sector.

Expansion into the hospital market

In addition to the elderly care and technical testing industries, voize is now planning to introduce its technology to hospitals. In cooperation with Recare, the AI is to be used in discharge management. In view of the increasing shortage of skilled workers, AI offers an opportunity to make work processes more efficient and reduce the workload of staff.

Our goal is to automate administrative tasks using AI - in nursing, healthcare and beyond.

Fabio Schmidberger, CEO voize

voize was founded in 2020 by twins Marcel and Fabio Schmidberger and Erik Ziegler to relieve the burden on nursing staff through AI-supported speech recognition. The software enables fast and structured documentation via voice input. It is currently being used in care facilities and technical testing institutions. It will be exciting to see how nursing staff in clinics react to the new possibilities.
