Waterdrop raises 60 million euros

In a Series B financing round, the start-up known from "Die Höhle der Löwen" raises capital.
The company Waterdrop announced that it received 60 million euros in capital in a Series B financing round. Lead investor in the round was Temasek, a Singaporean sovereign wealth fund. Existing investors Founders Future and Bitburger Ventures also invested again.
With the capital, founder and CEO Martin Murray wants to make the company "the world's number one drinking water brand." The founder is pleased about the entry of global investor Temasek and sees this as an important milestone for his young company.
Christoph Hermann, Henry Murray and Martin Murray founded the start-up in 2016. They gained notoriety in 2018 with an appearance on "Die Höhle der Löwen." The company now employs 200 people. Waterdrop sells so-called microdrinks - sugar-free tabs that customers dissolve in water and add flavor to it.
Customers can choose between different flavors. In this way, the start-up aims to motivate people to drink more water and save plastic. Waterdrop claims to save up to 98 percent CO2 and plastic compared to conventional drinks made from plastic bottles.
