Wingfield receives four million euros

The start-up launched its product on the market in 2019. Now Wingfield is raising capital for its expansion.
Wingfield has raised four million euros in its Series A financing round. BMP Ventures, IBG Fonds and Adesso Ventures have joined the start-up. The existing investors IEAD Sports & Health Tech Partners and Hannover Beteiligungsfonds already participated in the round in advance last year.
Wingfield has been in existence since 2017 and has developed a box that uses artificial intelligence and image processing technology to track the activities of tennis players. The system then evaluates the collected data and gives players direct feedback on their playing technique. This enables both professional and amateur athletes to measure their progress. The start-up now operates in 16 countries and has around 250 customers, including the Rafa Nadal Academy and the Queens Club in London.
"Despite the impact that Covid-19 has had on our industry, the last two years have shown that there is a huge demand for our products," says Wingfield founder and CEO Maik Burlage. "We have noticed that tennis clubs in particular are under increasing pressure not only to digitize their administrative needs, but also to rethink their offerings in line with changing customer requirements." Wingfield wants to use the capital from the financing round to meet the increased demand. The start-up wants to optimize its technology, further develop its business in Europe and expand into the USA.
