Ten million euros for Knowunity

With the new financing, the edtech wants to expand to Italy, Great Britain and the USA.

In a Series A financing round, the start-up Knowunity raises ten million euros. Lead investors in the round are Redalpine from Zurich and Stride VC from London. Existing investors such as Project A and angels Verena Pausder and Mario Götze are also said to have invested in the start-up again.

Benedict Kurz (CEO), Lucas Hild, Gregor Weber, Julian Prigl and Yannik Prigl founded the learning platform while still at school themselves in 2019. The digital platform offers students the opportunity to create and download learning content and exchange information with other students. According to its own information, the start-up can boast 2.4 million users so far. With the capital from the financing round, the company plans to grow from 60 to 100 employees this year. The money will also be put into product development to generate new formats and learning opportunities.

In addition to the market in Germany, Knowunity is already active in France, Poland, Austria and Switzerland. "We see that Knowunity is used as much in other countries as it is in Germany, so in the foreseeable future we will help millions of students in many more countries through our efficient internationalization model to create the first global platform for students," Kurz said. With the new capital, the company now plans to expand into Italy and the United Kingdom. In the medium term, the company also wants to bring its platform to the USA.
