suena, born out of a vision to be catalyst for the energy transition, is a Hamburg based green-tech start-up founded in 2021. As a route-to-market provider, suena offers advanced optimization and energy trading services for large-scale energy storages. Having recognized the still untapped potential of flexibility, suena developed the Autopilot to optimize the monetization of energy storage through a multi-market approach, that combines all relevant revenue streams of electricity and balancing markets. Considering forecasts, real time market data and battery aging models the Autopilot determines and executes the optimal trading schedule.

By making flexibility within the energy system usable and profitable for all stakeholders and integrating it seamlessly, suena aims to increase storage adoption to accelerate the energy transition. Even though the journey is complex, suena is ready to lead the charge to a sustainable energy system with the right tool to enable the global shift towards sustainable energy.

Trading as a service as suena’s core service, offers the continuous optimization and execution of a multi-market trading strategy for large scale battery storages. suena handles the communication between the battery asset and energy markets and provides detailed performance parameters in a user-friendly interface. The trading strategy is based on suenas energy trading autopilot, that combines market forecasts and advanced statistical optimization algorithms to find a revenue maximizing dispatch schedule for the energy storage.

To align the trading strategy to the business model, suena also supports in sizing, project planning and investment decisions for energy storage projects.

Dr. Lennard Wilkening (CEO) successfully completed his doctorate in electrical power engineering at the TUHH (Hamburg) and was a research assistant until 2020. During this time, in addition to technical expertise, Lennard gained relevant experience in project management.

Miguel Wesselmann (CFO) participated in a double master program from NIT and TUHH. He received his M.Sc. in Mechatronics and his M.A. in Technology Management with a specialization in Entrepreneurship. He brings experience in business and financial planning.

Tom Witter (CTO) earned his M.Sc. (with honors) in Computational Engineering Science from RWTH Aachen. Tom worked alongside his studies on several programming projects with artificial neural networks.
