Female entrepreneurs in the DACH region: self-confident, innovative and financially strong

Women in entrepreneurship are on the rise. Artificial intelligence is proving to be a clear competitive advantage.
Cologne, March 5, 2025 - Almost half (48%) of self-employed women in Germany, Austria and Switzerland are the main breadwinners in their households. This is according to the latest Global Entrepreneurship Survey 2025 by GoDaddy. The study shows that female entrepreneurs in the DACH region not only run their companies successfully, but also make a decisive contribution to the financial stability of their families.
Growing proportion of female founders
The number of companies run by women is increasing. According to the study, 45% of small businesses in the DACH region are owned by women, with 56% of these businesses having been founded in the last five years. Especially after the economic challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, female entrepreneurs are proving to be highly resilient and innovative.
AI as a success factor for women in business
Another key finding of the survey is the increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI) by female entrepreneurs. 72% of the women surveyed expect AI to help them compete with larger companies. By using AI-supported tools, they save an average of ten hours per week. They use this time for creative ideas (51%), project work (38%) or further training (34%).
Optimism despite economic uncertainties
Despite mixed assessments of the general economic situation - only 21% of respondents are very optimistic - confidence among female entrepreneurs remains high. 60% expect their company to grow in the next three to five years, a higher figure than their male colleagues (57%). This positive expectation underlines the importance of female entrepreneurship for the economy.
Digital tools as support In addition to AI-supported applications, female founders particularly value the opportunity to earn a self-determined income (55%) and the direct exchange with customers (35%). Digital tools such as GoDaddy Airo, an AI-supported platform for branding, website design and digital marketing, make it easier to start and grow your own business.

For many women, self-employment means an improvement in their quality of life. 61% of respondents say that they find more fulfillment through their businesses - be it through self-fulfillment or the opportunity to turn their passion into a career.
The results of the GoDaddy study show that female entrepreneurs in the DACH region play a central role in the economy. They rely on technology, defy economic uncertainties and make a significant contribution to the financial stability of their households. With innovative digital solutions and AI-supported tools, they could further strengthen and expand their companies in the coming years.
