8Fit goes to Withings

The takeover of the Berlin start-up is intended to create a joint healthcare offering.
According to information from Techcrunch the French company Withings has acquired the Berlin-based start-up 8Fit. To date, Withings' portfolio has primarily included medical hardware such as smartwatches that can measure heart rate and blood pressure monitors. With the acquisition of 8Fit, the French company is now expanding its offering to include workouts, meditation and meal plans. The Berlin-based company's offering is to be integrated into the existing Withings software.
"We are delighted to combine Withings' expertise in connected health devices that collect accurate and high-quality data with our fitness and nutrition plans. Together, we will provide our users with a more holistic health offering that will help them lead healthier and happier lives," 8fit CEO Lisette Fabian told Techcrunch.
8Fit has been around since 2014. The fitness app is available in six languages and has already been downloaded 30 million times, according to the start-up.
