Aldi promotes Plant Jammer and Terra Vegane

Aldi is supporting two start-ups in an accelerator funding program that beat 160 applicants.
The two start-ups Plant Jammer and Terra Vegane are being supported by Aldi for 20 weeks in an accelerator program. Aldi North and South will provide the two companies with mentors with whom they can further develop their business model. The grocery discounter had more than 160 applicants for the support program.
Plant Jammer is an app that creates a recipe from various fridge leftovers. Vegan or vegetarian diets can also be selected and allergies taken into account. The start-up was founded in Copenhagen in 2016.
Terra Vegane is also being funded. The start-up from Berlin develops vegan meat, cheese and egg alternatives. Terra Vegane has been manufacturing its organic products by hand in the capital since 2013. Instead of eggs, the products contain chickpeas, amaranth, cassava and the black salt kala namak, for example. Aldi wants to include these in its range on a trial basis.
Aldi has been supporting start-ups since 2018 in cooperation with the start-up accelerator TechFounders. Some of the products have already made it onto the shelves, including straws made from apples and, most recently, a vegan chocolate dessert from the start-up Prolupin.
