ambeRoad raises pre-seed funding

The search engine start-up, which was only founded this year, has won its first external investors. The money will be used to further optimize the in-house software.
The Aachen-based startup ambeRoad has landed its first outside investors. The tech company announced that several business angels are participating in the pre-seed funding round. They include former president of the NRW Chamber of Industry and Commerce Ralf Kersting, consultant and experienced angel investor Mirko Kerschbaum, and Promidata and Custom Gateway founder Daniel Rüben. Two further backers did not want to be named. Nothing is known about the amount of funding either.
ambeRoad is working on an intra-company search engine that would allow companies to search their own data with similar ease to, say, Google or Bing. "More and more companies are becoming aware that internal corporate search is a time-waster," explains Bastian Maiworm, one of ambeRoad's founders. He says his company's offering can save companies several thousand euros a month. "The medium-sized companies that manage to pass on their knowledge to new employees and a new generation will definitely be more successful compared to those that don't," says investor Daniel Rüben. "Both are important reasons for me to invest in the innovative start-up ambeRoad."
ambeRoad was founded this year by Bastian Maiworm, Igli Manaj, Julian Johannes Reinauer and Philip Reißel. The founders got to know each other at RWTH Aachen University during their studies. With the newly raised money, the development of the software is now to be pushed forward.
