Andreessen Horowitz invests in Payrails

The start-up has won over the well-known VC with an operating system for payments and financial services.
Fintech Payrails has received 6.4 million US dollars in its seed round. The round was led by prominent US investor Andreessen Horowitz. This is apparently his first fintech investment in the DACH region. HV Capital, Emmanuel Thomassin (CFO at Delivery Hero) and Flixbus founders Jochen Engert, André Schwämmlein and Daniel Krauss are also investing in the start-up. Dominik Richter, co-founder of Hellofresh, is also investing.
Orkhan Abdullayev, Emre Talay and Nicolas Thouzeau founded Payrails in 2021. The founding team previously built up the fintech division at Delivery Hero. With the new capital, the founders are now launching the cloud-based operating system Payrails OS on the European market. The system is designed to help companies manage payments and develop financial services. For example, online merchants can integrate new payment methods more quickly and analyze payment transactions. The offering is aimed at customers from the e- and quick-commerce sector and mobility providers. Payrails currently has 30 employees. With the new financing, the number of employees is expected to grow to 100 by the end of the year.
