Apheris receives 8.7 million euros

The Berlin-based start-up plans to use the money raised to further expand its AI data platform.
A successfully completed seed financing round brings the Berlin start-up Apheris 8.7 million euros. The largest investor is venture capitalist Octopus Ventures, which invests in health, fintech and deeptech in particular, as well as in consumer and B2B software. Existing investors such as Localglobe, Dig Ventures and former Google CFO Patrick Pichette also provided Apheris with further funding.
The start-up was founded by Robin Röhm and Michael Höh in Berlin in 2019 and currently employs around 30 people, according to the company. With their AI technology, they want to focus on major global goals. "The biggest challenges facing our planet can only be solved if companies can use the data of others," says Röhm.
The start-up offers a platform for collaborative data ecosystems. The aim is to enable companies to network securely. "We are committed to enabling industries to work together by eliminating the need to share data and reducing the complexity, risks and barriers that have previously made this almost impossible," says Röhm, describing the business model. According to Apheris, customers include BASF, the Boston Consulting Group and the BMW Group as well as Johnson & Johnson's innovation department.
