AR start-up OQMented completes seed funding

The company from Schleswig-Holstein develops displays for VR and AR glasses. The founders now want to use the money to hire more staff.
OQMented, a deep-tech startup based in Itzehoe, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, has successfully closed its seed-funding round. The company announced that venture capitalist Vsquared, investor Helmut Jeggle and an undisclosed Chinese partner have injected several million euros into the company. OQMented is silent on the exact amount of the funding.
The company develops displays for augmented reality and virtual reality glasses. Ulrich Hofmann and Thomas von Wantoch are behind the startup. Hofmann previously worked at the Fraunhofer Institute for Silicon Technology for more than 20 years, and von Wantoch also worked at the Itzeho-based research institution before founding the company.
"We invested in OQmented because their unique technology holds the key to breakthroughs in various industries, such as AR glasses or wider adoption of 3D cameras," says Benedikt von Schoeler, Founding Partner at Vsquared. With the money raised, the company, founded in 2018, now plans to hire more engineers.
