Blickfeld establishes Chinese subsidiary

The Munich-based startup develops lidar sensors and now wants to tap into the Chinese market with them.
The Munich-based start-up Blickfeld is establishing a subsidiary in Shanghai, thus setting its sights on the market in China. Currently, four employees of the lidar sensor manufacturer are working in China, as Munich Startup reported. General Manager of the China branch will be Mike Yang, who previously worked for companies such as Osram, General Electric and Valeo Sylvanie.
Yang calls it an "exciting task" to introduce the lidar sensors to the Chinese market. "My team and I are excited about the many opportunities that are already emerging and look forward to making lidar available to any company that can become more profitable as a result - and there are countless," he says.
Lidar stands for Light Detection and Ranging and is a method of sensing the environment. Lidar sensors generate three-dimensional information about the shape and surface features of surrounding objects. Field-of-view lidar sensors are used at Frankfurt Airport, for example, to better predict passenger flows and reduce waiting times at security checkpoints.
