The Viennese technology company chatlyn has closed a Series A financing round of 8 million euros. The round was led by Smedvig Ventures and also involved several business angels from the technology and tourism sectors as well as the Austrian transportation service provider Blaguss. The Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) also supported the start-up with innovation funding.

Central AI platform for hotels

chatlyn is developing an AI-based communication platform that supports hotels in responding to guest inquiries, bookings and internal coordination. According to the start-up, fragmented communication in the hotel industry causes billions in losses worldwide every year. Many businesses work in parallel with several channels such as email, WhatsApp, social media and booking platforms. This complicates processes and can lead to delays in responding to guests.

The hospitality industry is facing a profound change and chatlyn is positioning itself as a technical pioneer in AI-supported guest communication.

Freddie Kalfayan from Smedvig Ventures

chatlyn's solution is designed to address these challenges. The platform integrates a variety of channels and uses artificial intelligence for automated, multilingual communication.

Rapid growth since foundation

Founded at the end of 2022, chatlyn is now used by over 1,000 properties in 30 countries, including hotels under the InterContinental, St. Regis and Singer Palace Rome brands. The platform includes features such as visual booking chats, automated reviews, real-time translation in over 35 languages and full integration with popular hotel management systems such as Oracle Opera, Protel by Planet, Apaleo and Mews.

Expansion of functions and markets planned

chatlyn plans to use the fresh capital to expand both technologically and geographically. There are plans to expand AI-supported functions such as an assistant for telephone inquiries. Market entry in other European countries, the APAC region and the United Arab Emirates is also on the agenda. In addition, the development team is to be expanded and supplementary consulting services established.

Garry Loefgen from the InterContinental Vienna reports that by using chatlyn, over 70 percent of guest inquiries are answered immediately and in several languages. This allows the hotel team to concentrate more on personal on-site support.
