Checkly secures 20 million dollars from Balderton Capital

Less downtime thanks to Checkly: the company receives 20 million dollars for the further development of its monitoring solution.
Berlin - Checkly, a startup in the field of synthetic monitoring, has closed a Series B financing round of 20 million dollars. The round was led by Balderton Capital, with participation from existing investors Accel, CRV and Paul H. Müller. With this investment, Checkly plans to expand its global footprint and further develop its monitoring-as-code platform.
Proactive monitoring for faster bug fixing
Today, only a fraction of developers have access to powerful observability and monitoring tools. At Checkly, we bring monitoring to where development teams spend most of their time: directly into the code repositories.
Hannes Lenke, CEO of Checkly
Checkly was founded in 2020 by CEO Hannes Lenke, Chief Evangelist Tim Nolet and COO Timo Euteneuer. The company enables developers to identify and fix problems up to 10 times faster, even before users notice them. Proactive "code-first synthetic monitoring" enables developers to find targeted solutions and thus prevent web service failures and slow loading times.
Expansion and product development
Checkly approaches the topics of monitoring and observability from a completely new perspective. Monitoring-as-Code allows developers to take the reliability of their services, APIs and applications into their own hands.
Colin Hanna, Partner at Balderton Capital
With the new funding, Checkly plans to strengthen its presence in additional countries and expand its remote teams in Germany, Europe and the US. At the same time, the platform will be further developed to enable even faster problem resolution. The new "Checkly Traces" feature combines synthetics with tracing to enable developers to fix bugs faster and more accurately.
Checkly as a monitoring solution
With the Checkly CLI, not only has the management of checks become easier, but more developers are empowered to add and edit more checks, which has ultimately improved our monitoring significantly.
Tobias Deekens, Principal Engineer at commercetools
Checkly has established itself as a pioneer in monitoring-as-code and is used by over 1,000 customers. The platform enables developers to simulate user interactions in over 20 locations worldwide using automated Playwright scripts and receive real-time error messages. This approach is up to 80 percent cheaper than traditional solutions and helps development teams to monitor their services independently.
