Getsafe expands to Austria

Parallel to the expansion, the insurtech is expanding its product portfolio especially for the new market.
The digital insurer Getsafe has expanded to Austria. As of today, Austrians can take out liability, household and dog owner liability insurance policies via the start-up's app. Getsafe geared its three insurance products to the needs of Austrians. The company determined these needs in personal conversations and surveys before entering the market and also incorporated feedback from the app into the product design.
Customers can use the start-up's insurance app to take out insurance policies and report claims in real time. "Thanks to our platform, we are able to go to a new country within a few months - it only took eight weeks in Austria," says Getsafe founder and CEO Christian Wiens. "For Getsafe, this is proof of the power of our technology, and a template for further market entries." The startup also used its own insurance license to expand into Austria. Getsafe received this from the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority last October(we reported).
Getsafe also wants to develop new insurance policies for the markets in Germany, France and Italy. To this end, the start-up applied for further licenses from Bafin in March in order to operate as an insurer there as well.
