Hellofresh apparently overcharged: Customers to cancel cooking box

A recall of a different kind: Hellofresh asked its customers on Monday to cancel their current cooking box by midnight to prevent supply bottlenecks.

That must have left some customers of supplier Hellofresh wondering on Monday evening: As reported by Handelsblatt

, they were told by mail that they should cancel their order of a cooking box. The offer was only valid until midnight, in return they received a 10-euro voucher.

Once a week Hellofresh delivers customers a ready-made box with ingredients and recipe in coordinated quantities to their homes - only cooking they have to do themselves. Over Christmas, however, the start-up now seems to have run into delivery bottlenecks. According to Handelsblatt

, the mail to customers said: "With your help, we will ensure that the capacities at the turn of the year do not reach their limits and we can continue to offer our service satisfactorily in the future."

The publicly traded company has yet to close a fiscal year with a profit since it was founded nine years ago. This year, for the first time, should be a different story. In the third quarter of 2020 alone, the company made a profit of 74.6 million euros. In times of pandemic and curfew, Hellofresh has just the right offer for people at home.
