Cologne universities establish cooperation

Cologne's four largest universities are launching the "Fit for Invest" project. Their aim is to get students interested in start-ups.
The Rheinische Fachhochschule Köln, TH Köln, the University of Cologne and the German Sport University Cologne have joined forces in the "Fit for Invest" project. "The project brings together expertise, innovation and capital and strengthens the start-up landscape in the region," according to a press release. The aim is to develop a joint entrepreneurship strategy for the Cologne region.
Students from all four universities work on joint projects in so-called challenges. The association is currently taking part in the "Silver Ager" challenge together with Deutsche Telekom. 52 students are working in 13 teams on technological solutions for older people. The teams' tasks include, for example, developing devices for older people or considering possible applications for voice software. 5,000 euros is the prize money for the winners.
The "Fit for Invest" network is managed by the TH Köln and funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy with around four million euros over four years.
