Organifarms wins agriculture award

The start-up wins against the Klim app and the weed start-up Paltech Robotics.

And the winner is: Organifams! The start-up took first place in the "Startups" category of the Modern Agriculture Innovation Award. Organifarms is developing indoor farming as an alternative cultivation method that will save on personnel and conserve resources, according to the Constance-based company's promise. The prize was awarded for the first time this year and also includes two other categories, "Research" and "Cooperation", the final of which is still to be decided.

Organifarms has "a huge market potential, for a broad range of plant varieties. Costs are reduced, quality is increased - and the well-known issue of 'staff shortages' is also solved," the jury is quoted as saying in the press release. Organifarms' farm stations automate steps such as pollination, harvesting and indoor plant care. The Constance-based company prevailed over Paltech Robotics, which sells an automated weed control system, and Klim, which has developed an app as a digital advisor for regenerative agriculture.

"We knew that innovation is no stranger to German agriculture. Nevertheless, we were more than surprised by the number and quality of the submissions," says Matthias Schulze Steinmann, editor-in-chief from the platform f3, which acts as a network for companies, farmers and start-ups and is the initiator of the competition alongside Forum Moderne Landwirtschaft.

The prize is endowed with 10,000 euros, and access to the initiators' network is also provided.
