Recup raises twelve million euros

With recyclable reusable packaging, the Munich-based start-up was able to convince new investors.
Recup has raised twelve million euros to expand its reusable system for to-go packaging. Together with existing shareholder Müller Medien, Blueworld.group is also participating. The investment company of serial entrepreneur Sven Schulz Summiteer and the GLS bank also invest in the company.
"We will use the additional capital to consistently expand our market leadership in the restaurant and delivery service sector and to offer our partners, such as to-go users, a comprehensive, sustainable and well-thought-out reusable solution for the long term," says Florian Pachaly, co-founder of Recup.
Pachaly co-founded the startup in 2016 with Fabian Eckert. The founders offer recyclable cups and bowls at various serving points. In cafés, restaurants and canteens, customers can borrow and return the reusable packaging for a deposit. The aim of the concept, they say, is to do away with single-use packaging and to raise society's awareness of the issue of packaging waste. According to the company, it already has 12,000 partners. These include companies such as Shell, Alnatura, Denn's and Aral.
