The innovation hub RootCamp from Hanover has given the go-ahead for Batch #7. Six startups from Germany, Serbia, Latvia, Belgium and France will take part in the accelerator program over the coming months. The aim is to provide the start-ups with targeted support in the further development of their technologies, provide access to expertise and capital and initiate pilot projects with industry partners.

Focus on sustainability and scalability

The selected start-ups focus on technology-driven solutions for key challenges in agriculture, packaging, water and waste management and CO₂ removal. The approaches range from digital platforms for precise field trials and sustainable packaging materials to innovative processes for wastewater treatment and recycling management. What they all have in common is the aspiration to combine ecological sustainability with economic scalability.

The participating start-ups at a glance

  • AgDoIt (Germany): Digital platform for the automation of scientific field trials using AI and sensor technology.
  • AquaBoostNano (Serbia): Nanoparticle-based seed treatment that makes plants more resistant to drought stress.
  • Empyrio (Latvia): Compact systems for thermal utilization of sewage sludge that generate energy and recover phosphorus.
  • Papair (Germany): Development of paper-based protective packaging such as recyclable bubble wrap as an alternative to plastic.
  • Pronoe (France): Water-based technology to enhance CO₂ absorption in coastal regions.
  • Zymofix (Belgium): Microbial production from agricultural residues to produce low-cost biostimulants.

RootCamp as a platform for cooperation and innovation

RootCamp sees itself as a bridge builder between start-ups and industry. Participants not only receive coaching and mentoring, but also access to jobs, technical infrastructure and a broad network. The program is supported by renowned partners such as K+S, KWS, Rentenbank, hannoverimpuls, startup niedersachsen and the European Union.

Contribution to sustainable transformation

With Batch #7, RootCamp is underlining its role as a catalyst for sustainable innovation. Whether in the fields of agriculture, packaging or water management, the start-ups show that technology and sustainability can go hand in hand. By working closely with industry partners, the solutions are not intended to remain in the laboratory, but to find their way onto the market and into practice.
