Schleswig-Holstein invests more than three million euros in start-ups

The federal state is primarily using EU funds for this. The money goes to existing and new project partners.
The "StartUP SH" project is being extended. To date, the state of Schleswig-Holstein and the EU have promoted the start-up culture in the far north under this name. Now, a further 2.7 million euros from EU funds will flow into the project, with the project partners investing 900,000 euros themselves. The money is intended to cushion the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the start-up culture at universities. The project partners are trying to achieve more start-ups in Schleswig-Holstein with various offers. The West Coast University of Applied Sciences and Wedel University of Applied Sciences are new to the project.
The services offered by the project are free of charge and are intended to provide support in the early phase of a start-up. This begins with the development of the initial idea for a start-up, continues with the construction of prototypes and extends to the first steps in the target market. According to the company, 532 start-ups have emerged from the projects to date.
The state of Schleswig-Holstein hopes that the renewed funding from the EU will create jobs in the digital sector and in the area of sustainability. This should contribute to the recovery of the economy, as Economics Minister Bernd Buchholz (FDP) explains: "We have caught up considerably as a start-up state in all rankings nationwide. Now it is particularly important to use the momentum, keep at it and become even better," he says.
