The state primarily uses EU funds for this purpose. The money goes to existing and new project partners.

The "StartUP SH" project is getting an extension. So far, the state of Schleswig-Holstein and the EU have promoted the start-up culture in the far north under the name. Now, another 2.7 million euros of EU funds are flowing into the project, and the project partners themselves are investing 900,000 euros. The money is intended to cushion the impact of the Corona pandemic on the start-up culture at universities. The project partners are trying to reach more start-ups in Schleswig-Holstein with various offers. The West Coast University of Applied Sciences and the Wedel University of Applied Sciences are new participants.

The services offered by the project can be used free of charge and are intended to provide support in the early phase of a start-up. This starts with the development of the first idea of a start-up, continues with the construction of prototypes and ends with the first steps in the target market. According to the company's own information, 532 start-ups have emerged from the projects so far.

The state of Schleswig-Holstein hopes the renewed EU funding will create jobs in the digital industry and in the area of sustainability. This should contribute to the recovery of the economy, as Economics Minister Bernd Buchholz (FDP) explains: "As a start-up state, we have made up considerable ground in all rankings nationwide. Now it is particularly important to use the momentum, keep at it and become even better," he says.
