Swiss fintech pushes into the German market

Yova has been offering its sustainable investments in Switzerland since 2019 and is now about to launch in Germany. The fintech is looking for a team for its Frankfurt office.

The big players in the fintech sector are already established in Germany, but new providers are still entering the market. A current example is the Swiss fintech Yova Impact Investing. The focus is on investments in sustainable and responsible investments. Since February, Yova has been licensed by Bafin to operate as an asset manager in Germany, and the website presents a waiting list on which interested parties can register. According to a report in the Swiss newspaper Handelszeitung, the decisive steps for expansion into Germany are currently being prepared.

It was not until May that Yova raised eleven million Swiss francs in a financing round, which the company is also using to drive forward its expansion plans towards Europe. CEO Tillmann Lang stated that he was in talks with various financial service providers and insurance companies for the German market. The fintech is already looking for a team for Germany: there are currently thirteen job offers for the Frankfurt am Main location on the start-up's website. Yova founded its German subsidiary in summer 2020, which is based at the Impact Hub in Berlin.

Founded in 2017, Yova has been offering its customers a sustainable investment strategy selected according to their preferences since 2019. For example, they can choose not to invest in "alcohol", "tobacco" or "weapons", while "renewable energies" or "access to education" are prioritized.
