The salad chain intends to use the money to expand. For Triodos, the investment means a return to the German market.

The private equity firm Triodos Investment Management is investing in the salad chain Stadtsalat. This investment marks Triodos' return to the German market. "Stadtsalat is a fantastic addition to our portfolio due to its passion for healthy and sustainable food and its world-class operations and technology," said Triodos' Principal Investment Manager Adam Kybird.

Marcus Berg and Tom Smets founded Stadtsalat in 2016, which delivers salads but also operates its own stores, including in Hamburg, Berlin and Frankfurt. The company has developed proprietary software to largely automate customer and operational processes, as the founders come from a technology background. The company uses its own technology for everything from managing delivery cycles to managing customer orders, stock orders and demand forecasting.
