Ubimaster raises 2.5 million euros

The start-up offers tutoring for students in various subjects as a flat rate. Now the American venture capitalist Owl Ventures is getting involved.

Munich-based start-up Ubimaster has closed its first round of financing in the amount of 2.5 million euros. The lead investor is the American venture capitalist Owl Ventures. Auxxo and two business angels from Encourageventures are also participating. With the new capital, the startup plans to expand its team and better adapt its tutoring platform to the needs of its customers.

"Ubimaster enables all children - regardless of their social background - to have tailored access to extracurricular education," says founder Jana Krotsch. The startup, founded in 2019, offers a tutoring platform that allows students and trainees to contact tutors. Since its inception, 10,000 students have used the platform, of which 75 percent have improved their grades, she said. The startup also offers the platform to companies, which can integrate the application into their employee benefit programs. This would allow employers to ease the burden on their employees with children.

Bettine Schmitz of Auxxo Invest said she wants to encourage the startup to "think big" and take the next steps. "If we can then add value to society, as in the case of Ubimaster, and improve opportunities for equal education, then it's a win-win situation for everyone," Schmitz says.
