The start-up wants to enable emission-free regional flights before 2030.

The Munich-based start-up Vaeridion receives 3.2 million euros in its seed financing round. The round is led by Vsquared Ventures. Project A and Andreas Kupke are also participating in the financing.

The founders Ivor van Dartel and Sebastian Seemann want to develop an environmentally friendly small aircraft. The founders plan to present a model of the small aircraft to the public at the ILA air show in Berlin in the near future. The electric aircraft should be able to transport nine passengers plus crew up to 500 kilometers. "The transition to emission-free aviation must be initiated as quickly as possible, not only because short-haul flights with combustion engines will be banned in some countries from 2030," says Seemann.

The small aircraft is intended to enable connections between airports and small airfields. The service will be aimed in particular at business travelers in order to offer an alternative to cars and trains. With their own solar power plants, the airports could supply the energy for the electric aircraft themselves. Vaeridion states that the aircraft should be certified and delivered before 2030.
