A flying car is soon to be launched on the market in China. Volocopters could soon be flying in Germany too.

The Chinese car manufacturer Geely is planning a flying car together with Volocopter. The flying vehicle is set to come onto the market as early as 2024. This was announced by Jing Chao, CEO of Geely's aerospace division Wofei Changkong Technology Co, in an interview with the Chinese newspaper The Paper. Geely has held a stake in the Baden-based air cab start-up Volocopter since 2019. The company sells the Volvo and Panda car brands, among others.

Volocopter's air cabs are initially to be approved for the German market. Certification has already been applied for from the European Aviation Safety Agency. The research and development of the flying car has been completed so far, Chao reports. "We are therefore confident that flying cars will be available in China from around 2024," he told The Paper.

In addition to business people, event organizers and tourism providers will also be the target group. Later, the mass market will also follow if air cabs become established as a normal means of transportation.
