In China, a flying car will soon be on the market. Volocopters could soon be flying in Germany, too.

Chinese automaker Geely is planning a flying car in partnership with Volocopter. The flying vehicle is expected to hit the market as early as 2024. This was announced by Jing Chao, CEO of Geely's aerospace division Wofei Changkong Technology Co, in an interview with Chinese newspaper The Paper

. Geely has held a stake in Baden-based air taxi startup Volocopter since 2019. The company sells Volvo and Panda car brands, among others.

First, Volocopter's flight taxis are to be certified on the German market. Certification with the European Aviation Safety Agency has already been applied for, he said. The research and development of the flying car has been completed so far, Chao reports. "Therefore, we are confident that there will be flying cars in China from around 2024," he told The Paper

.

Besides businessmen, event organizers and tourism operators are also expected to be the target audience. Later, the mass market is also expected to follow if air taxis become a normal mode of transport.
