Weddyplace acquires Wonderwed

This means that the wedding planner start-up now has the largest selection of corresponding service providers in the German-speaking world.

The Berlin-based wedding start-up Weddyplace has swallowed its competitor Wonderwed. It is the second acquisition by founders and siblings Pauline and Daniel Koehler, who had already taken over Foreverly in the summer of 2019.

The acquisition of Wonderwed is expected to strengthen Weddyplace's position in the wedding market: Through the 3,500 added service providers, Weddyplace now has the largest selection in the German-speaking region, according to its own statements.

The takeover comes at a time that currently gives Weddyplace hope again: After the damage caused by the pandemic in the industry, the company hopes for a recovery and a significant increase in bookings in the coming year: "The pandemic has greatly changed the way weddings are planned. Much of the wedding planning now takes place online," says founder Pauline Koehler.

Weddyplace is probably the most successful digital marketplace for wedding services in Germany, with over 12,000 connected service providers. The start-up's investors include Mutschler Ventures, IBB Ventures, Axel Springer Plug & Play and Verena Pausder. Weddyplace has already helped over 50,000 bridal couples with their wedding planning.
