30 million euros for Embat
Fintech Embat, which specializes in AI-supported treasury management, has closed a Series B financing round of 30 million euros. The round is led by the international investment fund Cathay Innovation. Existing investors Creandum, Samaipata, 4Founders Capital and Venture Friends are also involved.
Embat intends to use the financing to accelerate its expansion in the DACH region and drive forward the further development of its agent-based AI platform. The company is positioning itself as a provider of a new generation of treasury software for medium-sized and large companies.
Treasury as an underestimated lever in companies
Many finance departments still work with fragmented systems, manual Excel processes and limited real-time transparency on liquidity and cash flows. This is where Embat's business model comes in.
The company was founded by former J.P. Morgan managers Antonio Berga and Carlos Serrano and former Fintonic CTO Tomás Gil. The aim is not only to digitize treasury processes, but to fundamentally reorganize them using AI.
According to the company, the platform integrates more than 15,000 banks and leading ERP systems, enabling companies to centrally manage their financial processes in real time. This includes liquidity management, cash flow forecasts, account reconciliation and payment processes.
AI part of the product strategy right from the start
In contrast to many traditional financial software providers, Embat says it has consistently relied on artificial intelligence since its foundation. As early as 2022, the company developed an early generative AI use case for the European financial sector together with Google.
Today, "TellMe" in particular is at the heart of the product strategy. This is an agent-based AI treasury analyst that analyzes cash flow patterns, automates account reconciliations and provides strategic recommendations for action.
Having Cathay Innovation on board as the lead partner for this Series B round is a natural step in our ambition to become the global standard for treasury management.

Germany and international expansion
The German market plays a central role in Embat's European growth strategy. The company only officially launched in the DACH region around a year ago. Embat now has teams in Munich and Berlin.
Its customers now include more than 400 companies, including well-known names such as 1KOMMA5°, Pliant, sennder, Eraneos, Treatwell and Fever. The company now employs a total of around 150 people and has raised more than 50 million euros in capital since it was founded.
Investors see enormous potential in SMEs
The new funding will be used primarily for two areas: international expansion and the further development of AI technology.
Embat is specifically targeting the European SME sector. In the company's view, this market has been technologically underserved to date.
The financial infrastructure of the future requires more than just optimized treasury processes - it demands an intelligent, autonomous cockpit.
André Reimers, Head of DACH at Embat
Lead investor Cathay Innovation also sees great potential in the combination of financial expertise and AI technology. Managing Partner Jacky Abitbol explains:"Backed by advanced AI, Embat provides a robust, concrete answer to the treasury requirements of global corporations."
AI is becoming the operating system of modern finance departments
The market for treasury management is currently undergoing profound change. Increasing regulatory requirements, volatile markets and more complex international payment flows are increasing the pressure on finance teams. At the same time, AI is increasingly evolving from an assistance tool to an active management system. Embat sees its platform as being at the cutting edge.
The current financing round not only demonstrates investors' confidence in the company itself, but also a larger trend in the European fintech market: in future, financial software will no longer just manage data, but will independently analyze, prioritize and provide recommendations for action.
