Airtango raises more than one million euros

The start-up Airtango makes money with a livestream that it broadcasts to gyms and other places. Now it's getting money from investors.

The idea behind Airtango actually sounds pretty simple: the company, founded in Cralsheim, produces videos and live content and plays it out via its own platform and TV screens in currently over 600 gyms in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Most of the broadcasts come from the sports, entertainment and travel sectors and include commercial breaks, from which Airtango earns.

Airtango is thus operating in what is known as the digital-out-of-home sector, i.e. where people consume advertising on screens outside their own four walls. In a financing round the company from Cralsheim received now 1.2 million euro. The largest share is contributed by the mezzanine programme of the state of Baden-Württemberg, which is financed by the Landesbank. The remaining 400,000 euros are a capital increase of other existing investors.

Airtango wants to use it primarily to increase its staff in the areas of marketing and technology. The start-up, which has been in existence since 2016, also wants to expand its offering to other areas.
