Alexa von Bismarck rises to become Adyen's head of Europe

Until now, she has headed the company's German business. She is succeeded as head of Germany by Hella Fuhrmann, who previously headed the account management team.

Alexa von Bismarck has apparently proved her worth as head of Germany at Dutch payment service provider Adyen: The manager is moving up to head all of Adyen's operations in Africa, Europe and the Middle East, according to the company.

Von Bismarck had joined Adyen in 2013. She had previously worked as a senior sales manager at London-based payment services provider Skrill. "I am very excited about the opportunity and challenge to now lead Adyen's business on two continents and drive our growth internationally," she said.

Von Bismarck's successor as head of Germany will be Hella Fuhrmann. She joined the company in 2018 and most recently led the account management team. Before joining Adyen, she had worked at competitor Worldpay and hotel company Marriott International, among others.

Fuhrmann has nothing but praise for her predecessor: "Alexa has done a great job over the last few years, and I'm very happy to take over the baton from her," she says. "We've built a strong team in Berlin and Munich, and we want to continue to grow with them."

Adyen is growing rapidly and generated annual net sales of one billion euros in 2021. The company offers merchants, primarily in e-commerce, a platform that handles all payment methods such as Visa, Mastercard, Paypal or purchase on account from a single source. The company has locations throughout Europe, including in Berlin and Munich.
